The Journey

The Journey to a PV and/or Battery Storage Installation

It begins by reaching out to us!  Go to our Contact Us page and let us know a bit about you.

We will conduct a preliminary assessment of your property using online publicly available information, and contact you with any additional information we require, which will include:-

  • Information on your household
  • Historic electricity usage data, from bills or your smart meter
  • Information on your property that may not be available on-line

We will then provide an initial Proposal with indicative costs, pay-back estimate, funding options.

If of interest, we will visit you and survey your property to verify suitability for the proposed installation.  Any amendments required to the Proposal will be made and it resubmitted to you.

Upon receipt of your written instructions to proceed we will plan the works and liaise with you on dates.  A typical installation will involve…

  • Scaffold erection – 1 day
  • System installation – 2-5 days (size and complexity dependant)
  • Commission and test – 0.5 day
  • Scaffold removal – 1 day

We carry most system components, such as panels, mounting kits, batteries, inverters, consumables, etc. in stock to minimise lead times.  In the event that a factory order and shipment is required, lead times may be a number of weeks.  You will be kept informed of this.

Once installed and the BMS software correctly configured, there is little further maintenance required.  SRM will be able to remotely monitor your system and intervene in the event of any issues such as trip-outs or resetting needs, that can occasionally occur.  For owners who prefer to exercise more control an App will be available to enable settings to be adjusted.

The expected life of the solar panels is 20 years, plus.  The battery and inverters have shorter lives and it is dependent on usage.  A battery should be expected to achieve at least 6000 cycles (discharge-recharge), so at an assumed 1 cycle per day, that’s over 15 years.  Inverters typically have a design life of 10 years but can achieve more.
